HOW DO I BOOK A HUNT?

To book a hunt for any species, please contact True Grit Trophy Outfitters, LLC to confirm availability of the desired hunt. Once the hunt is deemed available, you must complete a hunter contract and submit it with the required non-refundable deposit.

WHEN DO I PAY THE BALANCE OF THE HUNT?

You will receive an invoice for the balance of the hunt approximately sixty (60) days prior to the start of your hunt. The balance is due, and must be received by True Grit Trophy Outfitters, LLC, no later than thirty (30) days prior to the start of your hunt.

    CAN I BRING A NON-HUNTING GUEST?

We welcome non-hunting guests for an additional fee, providing space is available.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE HUNT?

The price of your hunt includes 2×1 guide service, private land authorization permit, all meals, lodging, caping of your trophy, in-field meat care (including storage in a cooler until your return trip home) and travel during the hunt.

WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE HUNT?

Travel to and from the hunt, taxidermy, meat processing, packaging and shipping of meat/antlers/hide, license fees, gross receipts tax, and tips for the guide and/or cook. While we do not provide taxidermy or meat processing services, we do have independent sources available for both that we recommend. We would be happy to take your trophy and/or meat to them, or you can take it to one of your choosing.

    WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Bring your weapon of choice, along with ammunition/arrows. If you have a spare or backup weapon (bow, rifle, or muzzleloader), it is highly recommended that you bring it along, in the eventuality that you damage your primary weapon. You should also bring hunting clothing (including warm weather, cold weather, and rain gear, as weather in the mountains is unpredictable). It is imperative that you bring at least one pair of hunting boots (waterproof, high top, lace up style is recommended). These boots must be WELL broken-in prior to arriving in camp. While your guide will have rangefinders, binoculars and/or spotting scopes, it is recommended that you bring your own. A good set of shooting sticks is also a good idea, and you should practice shooting off them in different positions. Finally, bring large ice chests to transport your meat and hide home with you.

CAN I UPGRADE TO 1X1 GUIDE SERVICE?

We would be happy to provide you with a 1×1 guide upgrade for an additional fee. Please notify us of your desire to upgrade at the time that you book your hunt.

CAN I ADD ON A DIFFERENT SPECIES TO MY ELK HUNT?

It is possible to add a bear or mule deer hunt to a bull elk hunt, depending on the dates of your hunt and established harvest quotas. An additional fee plus gross receipts tax is payable when the balance of the hunt is paid. The hunter will be responsible for obtaining the proper license for each species. In the case of an add-on bear hunt, an additional fee will be refunded to the hunter if the quota has been met prior to the start of the hunt.

WHEN SHOULD I PURCHASE MY HUNTING LICENSE(S)?

You may purchase your hunting license at any time after you have paid the final balance of your hunt. In the case of an elk hunt, you will be given the private ranch landowner authorization that allows you to purchase your license once the balance of your hunt has been paid and funds have cleared the bank. True Grit Trophy Outfitters, LLC recommends that you wait to purchase your license(s) until immediately prior to your hunt (but in accordance with the law) in case you have to cancel at the last minute, thus saving you the expense of the license fee, as the State of New Mexico will not refund you the money.

WHEN IS MY HUNT CONSIDERED BOOKED AND DATES RESERVED?

Due to high demand and limited openings, your hunt is not considered booked and reserved until your contract and deposit are received by True Grit Trophy Outfitters, LLC.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL?

Because of the limited number of authorizations, your deposit is non-refundable. However, you can attempt to locate another hunter to fill your spot. If you are able to locate another hunter, True Grit Trophy Outfitters, LLC will refund your deposit once the new deposit is received and the funds clear the bank. Once the balance of the hunt is paid, no portion is refundable due to the late notice and near impossibility of finding a replacement hunter at such a late date.

DOES TRUE GRIT TROPHY OUTFITTERS, LLC PROVIDE CANCELLATION INSURANCE?

True Grit Trophy Outfitters, LLC does not provide cancellation insurance; however, we highly recommend that you obtain it on your own from an independent source.
